📚 Grammar

Examinees should be able to recognize and use grammatically correct language forms that express and allow for the expression of pragmatic intentions within the scope defined by the functional and conceptual inventory of the B1 level, in relation to the topics and situations specified in the thematic inventory of this level. This scope is further detailed in the list of grammatical and syntactic issues (see Examination Requirement Standards).

Grammatical errors present in spoken and written texts produced by examinees should not prevent understanding of the content and intent of the statements.

This part of the exam consists of 8 – 11 tasks, which may be based on both prepared and authentic texts. The grammatical issues and vocabulary are tailored to the requirements of the B1 proficiency level. Points are awarded for individual grammatical operations: 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, or 1 point, depending on the level of difficulty. Tasks can be completed in any order.

Individuals planning to take the certification exam at this level should familiarize themselves with the catalog of grammatical issues included in the Examination Requirements Standards. Discussions of these issues and preliminary exercises are usually found in every coursebook. However, one should not limit themselves solely to such coursebooks but also use other resources dedicated to this topic (grammars, collections of exercises for the B1 level).
